Sciencie in Ireland:
Ireland and its organization for science:

Ireland has an organization dedicated to science called: Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), the organization is responsible for financing basic and applied research in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The agency was established in 2003 under the Industrial Development Law (Science Foundation Ireland) of 2003 and is headed by a council appointed by the Minister of Business, Enterprise and Innovation. SFI is one of the three sister state agencies of the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation together with Enterprise Ireland (EI) and the IDA.

The organization has a strategic plan to position Ireland as a world leader in knowledge, a society with scientific and engineering research at its core, which drives economic, social and cultural development. The plan was designed to take advantage of the initial investment in the scientific and business communities of Ireland since the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) was established and set targets for further development and growth by 2020.

It has four main objectives:

To be the best science funding agency in the world to create impact from excellent research and demonstrate a clear value for the money invested.

Be the example in the creation of associations that finance an excellent science and take it to the market and society.

Have the most committed and scientifically informed public

Represent the ideal modern public service organization, with efficient and flexible staff, with efficient and effective management.

It has a week-long program of events throughout Ireland every November to make science more interesting and accessible for children and adults alike.

Organized events take place in schools, colleges, universities, libraries, businesses and other public places and are run by volunteers. The national media and promotional campaign is coordinated by the SFI Discover program with more than 800 events taking place throughout the country.
