US Politics

Good evening everyone Alejandro here today i'm gonna talk about politics... Yeah i know a very "interesting" topic, of course it's nice to know how the politics of other countries work.
Our first stop will be the politics of the blue, red and white stars flag, United states.

The United States is a federal presidential constitutional republic in which the president , Congress and federal courts share power reserved to the national government, according to it's constitution, which was created in 1787 by the founding fathers.

Branches.

The government is divided by three different branches, which are the executive, legislative and judicial branches:

The executive branch is headed by the president and is formally independent of both the legislature and the judiciary. The cabinet serves as a set of advisers to the president. They include the vice president and heads of the executive departments.

Legislative power is vested in the two chambers of Congress, the Senate and the House of Representatives.

The judicial branch (or judiciary), composed of the Supreme Court and lower federal courts, exercises judicial power. The judiciary's function is to interpret the United States Constitution and federal laws and regulations. This includes resolving disputes between the executive and legislative branches. The federal government's structure is codified in the Constitution.

I know, it can be a bit confusing seeing which one is in charge of what so i'll leave a chart below here which shows and explains a bit how the political system works.

Political parties.

The US has two political parties, the Democratic Party also known as the center-left liberal party and the Republican Party also known as a center-right conservative party., this two have dominated American politics since the American Civil War, although several much smaller parties also exist which are independent parties.

Voting

The most common method used in U.S. elections is the first-past-the-post system, where the highest polling candidate wins the election. Some may use a two-round system, where if no candidate receives a required number of votes then there is a runoff between the two candidates with the most votes.

Winning the presidential vote are a bit confusing if you are not american, instead of the candidate with more votes wins they use a different system which uses the states with more influence, this is a bit hard to explain so i'll leave it out.

It think that would be all for now, until the next time, Alexander out.
